Field Info
Riverside Renegades is THE  largest outdoor field in western Pennsylvania.   Located just minutes from the Homestead Waterfront entertainment complex, Oakland, and 10 just minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and much more.  Be prepared to enjoy yourself on the field.  Field offers sheltered picnic area.  Two styles of play, Mega and Capture the flag.  We've got a varied field in terms of terrain.   Everything from flat areas with man made cover(bunkers), two story buildings, hillsides, cliff faces, etc.  Capture the flag is for smaller groups where you split into two teams with forts.  The object of the game is to "capture" the opponents flag and return it to your fort.  When we get a large number of players, roughly 30, we offer the ability to play "MEGA" style of play.  This style of play is non-stop.  The game begins with a fort for each team, and the object of the game is to capture the fort, and HOLD it from enemy forces.  The fun begins with the fact that every half hour on the half hour, all "dead" players are re-entered on the playing field.  This produces a non-stop adrenaline pumping game for all people, with only a break for lunch!

Directions
We are located near the Homestead Greys (High-Level) bridge.  Take i376 to the Squirrel Hill exit.  Follow the signs to Homestead.  You will drive for about 1 mile and come to an intersection with a gas station on your right.  Continue straight through this light.  Go through one light, notice the Wendy's on your left.  Take a right at your next light (about 200 feet), this is Imogene Road.  Travel for about half a mile and the road will "Y", take a left and park the car.  There is a trail leading back to the staging area located on your right here.  If you would like more detailed instructions click the map below, or don't hesitate to call us.

What to bring
If you have never played before, here are some basic tips which will make life easier.

  • Wear clothes that you don't mind if they get dirty.  While we're at it, wear long pants, and preferably, long sleeve shirt also.  This helps cut the sting from getting hit with a paintball (which will be explained shortly), and it also helps prevent scratches from bushes while running, and even sunburn if you stay out in the sun too long.   If you want to be really prepared, bring an extra pair of shorts and a shirt for your ride home, just in case you end up getting dirtier then you expected.  Remember you'll also be in a wooded area, some camouflage can help, stay away from bright colors if at all possible.  White shows up pretty easily in the woods, darker colors work better.
  • Wear shoes that can handle getting around in the dirt and mud. Cleats are ok, but on varied terrain, ankle support is best. A good pair of boots can make getting around on our hills a bit easier, possibly give you an edge in the game!
  • Bring some water, or something to drink.  Water is available, but it never hurts to have some extra.  People often forget that when running around they can become dehydrated, this could put a serious crimp in your fun.
  • Getting hit with a paintball.  We're not going to lie and say you won't feel it.  It stings a bit when you get hit   This is why you MUST wear a face mask at all times on the field, and why we suggest clothes that cover all your skin.

Rules

  • Safety Comes First.
  • Always listen to the referee.
  • If you missed the safety briefing, please ask for it before you go on the field.
  • Never remove your face mask when you are on the field, never remove the barrel plug of your gun in the safety area.  Make sure you have both on/in before entering the staging area.
  • All non-rental guns must be chronographed to or below the field limit by a referee or other official. No Exceptions!
  • No physical contact among opposing teams on the field.
  • If you are hit by a paintball and it breaks, you are "out", please yell "OUT" or "HIT",  please leave the field, and go back to the staging area.  To leave the field, put your gun ABOVE YOUR HEAD and slowly come out from behind cover so the players shooting at you know not to shoot you anymore.  If you have a barrel plug on you, please insert it as you walk off the field.  If you left it at the entrance, put it in the gun before walking into the staging area.
  • If your GUN is hit, and you are not, then you are not "out", continue playing. If you wish yell out, "GUN BREAK".
  • If you are hit, and it bounces, or otherwise doesn't break, yell "NO BREAK", and continue playing.  This allows your opponent to know that you checked to see if the ball broke on you.
  • If you are hit and call yourself "out", but discover that the paintball did not break, you are still "out".  The act of telling other players that you are "OUT" means that you are.  This is very important.  Always check yourself before calling out
  • If you come within 10 feet of another player, you have the OPTION of asking them to surrender.  If they agree, they must call themselves out and walk off the field.   They have the option of trying to shoot you, but most rational players will surrender. :)
  • Do not overshoot players, do not shoot "out" players who are walking off the field, and do not shoot the Refs.  These are common sense rules.  No one likes to be hit a lot, and no one likes to be hit when they are "out".
